Lifestyle Transformation: The Paleo Diet


The boy and I are embarking on a new journey (well, really he is, but I am being supportive in the kitchen and would like to try it myself). The Paleo Diet is a lifestyle change that focuses on eating foods that people in the stone age would eat. A popular slogan we throw around in this house is WWCE – What Would Cavemen Eat?

And for the record, I really don’t like to use the word “diet” because we aren’t dieting.  This is a lifestyle change… so I’ll refer to it as the Paleo Lifestyle (but when googling, you will have to input diet to get the desired search results).

Things that we CAN eat: 

Meat (Grass-Fed Preferred)
Fish (Wild Preferred)
Oils (Natural such as Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil, etc.)
Tubers (Yams & Sweet Potatoes… Those types of foods)
Things that we CANNOT eat:
Processed Foods
We are shooting for 4 weeks.  After the four weeks, we will reassess and make individual decisions on whether or not we want to continue.
I won’t lie, it will be a challenge for me.  I’m vegetarian, but I eat pasta, grains, and even candy and *gasp* CHEESECAKE.  I’ve had aspirations of going vegan one day, so this may be my kick start onto that path.  I know I will be fine and I definitely want to show my support with this lifestyle change.
