Natural Hair: Best Practices for Your Body and Your Hair to Promote Hair Growth


You want your hair to grow and you want it to be healthy. While I can’t provide a miracle growth treatment or even a way in which you could possibly grow it quick, fast and in a hurry, I know, just like Rome, you hair won’t grow in just one day. It will take time, patience and healthy hair habits.

In the meantime, here are ways you can kick start your hair growth by taking care of your body from the inside out.

Eat right.  Growing a healthy head of hair starts from the inside out, and never the other way around.  No matter what topical treatment you are using on your hair, you aren’t taking care of your body then your hair will suffer.  Eat dark, leafy vegetables such as kale, broccoli and spinach as they contain high amounts of vitamin A & vitamin C, both essential for your hair growth and strength.

Drink more water.  I don’t know how else to say it.  Water is essential to life.  If you can visibly see growth when it rains down on the Earth (and I know I can – grass starts sprouting, flowers start blooming), imagine what it does for your body and your hair.

Keep it clean.  Just as you shower regularly (well, I hope you do), to clean off the dirt on your body, you also need to cleanse your scalp regularly.  Develop a regimen for your hair and be faithful to it.  There is no way your hair follicles will have room to thrive if you have dirt, gunk and build up.  It’s like having a garden full of weeds – you can never grow your garden to its full potential if you have the weeds (dirt) suffocating your precious flowers (hair).
